David Chesworth's practice involves several diverse areas of music, video and installation art.

Together with artist Sonia Leber Chesworth creates challenging and often large-scale sonic event spaces in the public domain. In 2007 they were recipients of the Helen MacPherson Smith Art Commission which resulted in Almost Always Everywhere Apparent installed at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art. Sonia and David's installation link contains more information including their commission Proximities, a permanent soundscape artwork created for the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

He is currently director of the eight piece David Chesworth Ensemble which performs internationally.

David has received several experimental opera commissions from Chamber Made Opera and Opera Australia for works that include the acclaimed Recital and Cosmonaut. Richter/Meinhof-Opera was presented at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art in Melboure and the Art Gallery of NSW in Sydney.

David was awarded an Ars Electronica Honorary Mention for his sound installation Southgate.

He is also known for his early work with seminal post-punk experimental group Essendon Airport and his Lo-fi album 50 Synthesizer Greats plus other records.
