Risky Business
CD has sold out. Still available on iTunes
Fusing together found sounds, environmental recordings and electronics Risky Business features David Chesworth's early compositions for dance and theatre.
Ingenious, witty, sombre, haunting, full of rhythm.
Tek Meng Sew, Herald Sun
Unusual, certainly; colourful in effect, yes; strange, undoubtedly; exciting, without reservation. The aural palettes, in turn minimalist, vibrant, mesmerising and even industrial, defy easy categorisation.
Kim Lockwood, Herald Sun
Adrian Martin writes
David Chesworth's music is chameleon like. Its effect and meaning change with each new listening. He draws on a very wide range of musical genres and natural sound sources, and then layers them in unusual, unpredictable ways. Mixed into surprising, challenging assemblages, specific sounds lose their previous, time-worn associations - and pick up new ones. Chesworth is an experimental composer in the truest sense; resourcing all his skills, intuitions and interests, he puts sounds to work with one another, eager to see what may happen. Chesworth’s works are open ended. They create a compelling, changing, experimental sound-space for the listener to explore.
