Practice
David Chesworth and Sonia Leber are the artists behind Wax Sound Media creating unique sound and multimedia installations for a diverse range of arts and cultural contexts including museums, galleries and public sites.
Established as an arts practice, we develop new
possibilities for the creative use of sound in cross-disciplinary
environments. We create soundscapes as artistic,
multi-level, interpretive works, often working in conjunction with
curators, designers and architects to develop a set of unique soundscapes
for each project.
We have developed specialist expertise in creating centrally controlled soundscapes which change over time. We program the delivery system to play the individual sound elements in different ways at different times, so that the soundscape can be supple and shifting, with different aspects falling into focus at different times.
We manage all phases of production in-house, including concept design, research, recording and studio production. We design the best delivery system for the budget including hard-disk technologies matched with high-performance loudspeakers and amplifiers. We provide detailed installation documentation and liaise with on-site installation contractors.
Current technological developments in audio dispersement are advancing the complexity, performance and reliability of delivery systems. It is with these expanded possibilities that we look forward to proposing new modes of transmission and reception.
